as i entered my kitchen for the zillionth time today, i really felt the need for a lot of things missing in there. and the only reason they are not there is not because schematic does not pay me enuf. it was because america lacking the concept of a ‘general utility store‘.
now back home in chembur, mumbai, exactly in front of my house is ‘sainath general stores‘. he keeps all the utility equipment that are needed on a day to day basis. from ‘dantmanjan‘ for morning to ‘paan‘ after lunch to ‘tortoise machhar dani‘ for a good nights’ sleep. its basically your walmart packed in a 5×5 ft. place.
gosh, i wish they had a los angeles branch for ‘sainath general stores‘ which was right in front of my house, eating up 2 parking spots hogged up generally by nasty SUV’s. no moving on street cleaning days!. i would do with that part of my street to be as dirty as possible.
i guess only thing would top that!. a free home delivery for my bread and anda every morning.

this is what wikipedia says about myspace
Claiming just over 107 million accounts, with the 100 millionth account being created on August 9, 2006 the site reportedly attracts new registrations at the rate of 230,000 per day.
and about facebook
As of December 2005, it has the largest number of registered users among college-focused sites (at over 7.5 million US college student accounts created with an additional 20,000 new accounts being created daily).
Now I get the point that people love making friends and men like to ogle at chicks. I do the same on orkut. but i cannot stay on it for more than 5 mins. I know people who stay on myspace / facebook for hours to ‘explore‘.
now some people can claim that I am not a sociable person. but u know what, I bet if not me, there is some ’socially active’ person wondering about the same thing. i represent him/her.
it is starkling to me how can such an about average site(s) gain so much ground with the general crowd. i bet the founders of the site go regularly on their sunday mass just to thank god for making them so lucky.
this brings me down to the question on manys VC’s minds. which internet business will be the next big thing?
tell u what? throw all ure ‘analysis‘ powerpoint slides into that dustbin and go and ask the teenager next door. that generation has totally replaced the ‘lab rat‘ when it comes to this ‘internet thing’.
